Rudolph mit der roten Nase<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jedes Jahr um Weihnachten wird sie ausgiebig besungen \u2013 die rote Nase von Rudolph dem Rentier. Was urspr\u00fcnglich der bl\u00fchenden Fantasie eines Malbuch-Autors entsprang, wurde inzwischen wissenschaftlich nachgewiesen. Auf W\u00e4rmebildern leuchtet das Riechorgan von Rentieren tats\u00e4chlich rot. Es ist besonders stark von roten Blutk\u00f6rperchen durchsetzt und ausgezeichnet durchblutet Die niederl\u00e4ndischen und norwegischen Forscher verglichen dabei die Nasen von f\u00fcnf Menschen und zwei Rentieren mit einem Video-Mikroskop und stellten fest: Die Blutgef\u00e4\u00dfe sind etwa um ein Viertel dichter als bei Menschen.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hufe mit Grip<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Die Hufen von Rentieren funktionieren ein bisschen so wie Winter- und Sommerreifen. Weil sie besonders breit sind, und sich weit spreizen lassen, k\u00f6nnen sich Rentiere im Winter trittsicher fortbewegen, sogar auf Eis. Sie sind au\u00dferdem scharfkantige Werkzeuge, denn um an die nahrhaften Flechten unter dem Schnee und Eis zu gelangen, m\u00fcssen sich Rentiere ihren Weg frei scharren. Im Sommer werden die Ballen weicher und verhindern so das Ausrutschen auf dem sumpfigen Boden<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Verwandlungsk\u00fcnstler Rentier<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Etwa dann, wenn wir unsere dicken Winterjacken im Fr\u00fchjahr auf dem Dachboden verstauen, wechselt das Fell der Rentiere seine Farbe von winterlichem wei\u00df auf sommerliches dunkelbraun. Das Prinzip des Fellwechsels kennen wir von vielen anderen Tieren. Rentiere haben jedoch eine weitere besondere F\u00e4higkeit. Sie k\u00f6nnen sich den unterschiedlichen Lichtverh\u00e4ltnissen von Sommer und Winter anpassen und wechseln auch ihre Augenfarbe. Im Sommer leuchten ihre Augen golden, im Winter tiefblau. Durch die so gesteigerte Lichtempfindlichkeit k\u00f6nnen sie in der kalten Jahreszeit auch im Dunkeln sehen. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Was fressen Rentiere?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Im Sommer knabbern Rentiere \u2013 \u00e4hnlich wie unsere heimischen Rehe \u2013 an allem, was ihnen \u00fcber den Weg l\u00e4uft. Im Winter schaufeln Sie mit ihren Hufen vor allem Flechten und Moose frei. Von ihrer Hauptnahrung, den Flechten, verdr\u00fccken sie bis zu 2 stolze Kilogramm pro Tag. Ihren Durst stillen Rentiere, indem sie auf Schnee herumkauen.   <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
