Noch am Flughafen in Berlin beginnt meine Islandreise mit einer kulturellen Bildungsl\u00fccke: Ich lerne den Schlager, in dem mein Name vorkommt (“Isabell, Isabell, komm setz’ dich auf mein B\u00e4renfell”), und mittlerweile bin ich fast textsicher. Perfekte Vorbereitung f\u00fcr ein Abenteuer im hohen Norden und es hilft der Reisegruppe sich meinen Namen zu merken \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Island empf\u00e4ngt uns mit Wind und Wackeln<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Die Landung in Keflav\u00edk ist wacklig. Ich frage mich kurzzeitig, ob wir nicht doch auf einem Schiff mit starkem Seegang gelandet sind. Wir werden mit Bussen vom Flugzeug abgeholt und sollen nicht laufen, \u201eder Wind ist zu stark\u201c. Aber was haben wir im M\u00e4rz in Island anderes erwartet? Wir freuen uns dennoch \u00fcber die typische Begr\u00fc\u00dfung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unser erstes isl\u00e4ndisches Wort lernen wir schnell und die will ich Ihnen in diesem Reisebericht \u00fcber Island nicht vorenthalten: j\u00e6ja j\u00e6ja (gesprochen “jaja”), dessen Bedeutung wir bis heute nicht genau kennen. Weitere Vokabeln folgten: Takk f\u00fcr “Danke”, G\u00f3\u00f0\u00e1 l\u00edst f\u00fcr “Guten Appetit”, “\u00cdslenskur hestur” f\u00fcr Islandpferd und mj\u00f3lk f\u00fcr “Milch”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Reykjav\u00edk: Stadtbummel mit kulturellen Highlights<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mit einer Stadtf\u00fchrung starten wir unseren ersten Tag. Das Wetter? Besser als erwartet, sogar ein blauer Himmel zeigt sich. Neben der Hallgr\u00edmskirkja und der Harpa, Islands moderner Konzerthalle, besuchen wir das Rathaus mit seinem beeindruckenden Island-Modell. Beim Abendessen tauschen wir unsere Erlebnisse aus: Die einen schw\u00e4rmen von der besten Fischsuppe Islands, die anderen erz\u00e4hlen von der Entdeckung des Penismuseums (ja, das gibt es tats\u00e4chlich in Island!).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wetterkapriolen und Naturschauspiele<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Island ist das Land der Superlative: Das beste Wasser, die besten Pferde, die besten Hotdogs \u2013 und das abwechslungsreichste Wetter! Hagelst\u00fcrme, Schneest\u00fcrme, Regen aus allen Richtungen und pl\u00f6tzliche Sonnenscheinmomente begleiten uns am zweiten Tag bei unserem Ausflug zur S\u00fcdk\u00fcste. Am Seljalandsfoss wagen sich einige mutig hinter den Wasserfall und werden prompt nass, am Sk\u00f3gafoss beschert uns die Sonne einen perfekten Regenbogen. Am schwarzen Lavastrand von Vik erleben wir meterhohe Wellen und bei der Gletscherzunge S\u00f3lheimaj\u00f6kull halten wir kurz inne \u2013 wer wei\u00df, wie lange es sie noch gibt?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nach dem Motto “viel sehen, wenig Schlaf” jagen wir am Abend die Polarlichter. Erst will es nicht so recht klappen, aber dann: Der Himmel beginnt zu tanzen. Ein magisches Naturph\u00e4nomen, das uns sprachlos macht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Golden Circle: Ein Finale mit Kaiserwetter<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Unser letzter Tag beginnt etwas m\u00fcde, aber voller Freude. Den Geysir Strokkur erreichen wir noch \u201evor den ganzen Touristen\u201c \u2013 Wortlaut von Svavar, unserem isl\u00e4ndischen Guide. Und dann bricht der Strokkur so oft aus, dass wir mit dem Fotografieren kaum hinterherkommen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mit gewohnt rasantem Fahrstil geht es weiter zum Gullfoss, dem bekanntesten Wasserfall Islands, der sogar den Niagaraf\u00e4llen Konkurrenz macht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ein kulinarisches Highlight erwartet uns auf der Tomatenfarm Fri\u00f0heimar: frische Suppe und spannende Einblicke in den geothermischen Anbau von Tomaten in Island. Danach geht es weiter zum Nationalpark \u00deingvellir, wo wir die Spalte zwischen der eurasischen und der nordamerikanischen tektonischen Platte hautnah bestaunen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zur\u00fcck im Hotel lassen wir unsere Reise bei einem letzten gemeinsamen Abendessen ausklingen. Und meine letzten Worte auf dieser Reise? \u00dea\u00f0 var f\u00ednt! \u2013 “Sch\u00f6n war’s!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
